Khalil is an entrepreneur with a passion for driving positive change in education. His organization, Learn Fresh, makes math fun for kids and keeps them engaged in school. They have reached over 45,000 students nationwide through their NBA Math Hoops program. NBA Math Hoops is officially sanctioned by National Basketball Association and thus Khalil works closely with the NBA and NBA Cares.
Forbes Magazine selected Khalil to their “30 Under 30” List for Social Entrepreneurship, and the Washington Post named Khalil one of the nation’s top 25 “Young Futurists”. He is an Echoing Green Fellow. Echoing Green provides seed funding and technical assistance to emerging social entrepreneurs. They were the first funders of City Year and Teach For America. Khalil is the youngest Fellow in the organization’s 25 year history.
Khalil attended Brown University, where he was an African American National Merit Scholar, a QuestBridge Scholar, and a Sidney Frank Scholar. He studied Education and Social Innovation, and he was Vice President of the Entrepreneurship Program, Captain of the Club Hockey team, and a member of the Varsity Rugby Team. While at Brown, Khalil was awarded a C.V Starr Social Innovation Fellowship, a Royce Fellowship, and he won the Brown University Startup Pitch Contest.
